James MacNeil, a Massachusetts native, who moved to the Cove with his wife Judy Chang in 2000, and now reside with daughters Sophia and Tara. Since beginning his career in the U.S. Peace Corps in Thailand in the late 1980’s, James has continued to work in the humanitarian assistance field, with a focus on education and community development. His work has taken him to numerous Asian countries, and he has lived at different times in Thailand, Vietnam and India. James is currently Vice President of World Education, Inc., a non-profit organization that operates in 20 countries and whose global headquarters is in Boston. He is also a member of the board of directors of the Poverty Alleviation Fund, which is based in Cambridge.
Closer to home, James has been a member of the Beverly Open Space and Recreation Committee and the Beverly Education Foundation. He is an avid gardener, who cultivates a plot at the Cove community garden.
James holds a B.A. and Master of Education from University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Doctorate in Education from Harvard University.
